Final Post

I chose to create my comic around the idea of social distancing. This is a very important thing for everyone to be practicing right now as it can save lives. No one has been enjoying the idea of social distancing, but we know this practice is lowering the cases of COVID -19 and needs to continue to be put in place. As for the design of my comic I wanted to keep the artwork simple as to not distract from the message. I choose to use stick figures and to distinguish these stick figures from each other by giving each one a unique colored face.

The skill that I set out to gain was to create a GIF. I did this in my first frame by showing the figure trying to push his frame to a different location, but only to find out that the frame had been anchored in place. Overall, I don’t believe the GIF was perfect because the size of the image changes in each frame which was not intentional. Seeing as this was my first attempt at making a GIF, I would hope to fix that issue for my next try.

I chose to use a GIF in my first frame because I wanted to show motion. I could have just used a single wide frame and drew the inner frame at different positions, but I wanted to try a different approach and learn something new in the process.  By using a GIF, I was able to show actual motion and not just using motion lines to represent this.

I chose to display my comic on my webpage in a vertical format so that the user would have to scroll between each frame. I think this allows the reader time to reflect more on each frame as they are only seeing one frame at a time. I am hoping that by doing this it gives the reader time to reflect on the frame and possibly make a connection to their own lives. I understand that at this point in the year it is going to be hard to continue to socially distance. People are going to want to see family for the holidays and are tired of following these rules. I would like to think that possibly someone reading this will get the message of how important wearing a mask and staying six feet apart is. If we can all follow these rules it could possibly save lives and get us back to normal as quickly as possible.
